A COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO ALL HORNBY RAILWAYS CATALOGUED MODELS
An unofficial Hornby Railways catalogue.
1959 - 1990
UK and Australian releases.

5th Edition - 2008
Last Updated - January 2008.

* Update : We are currently not working on the Collector Guide.

A database designed to hold as many Hornby releases as possible... All locomotives, coaches, wagons, train sets and train packs have been entered for the years 1959 to 1990.

The database is as accurate as the Catalogues released. Uncatalogued items are not listed... yet.

The ability to add a Model Note or a Comment has been updated and made simpler, so add your personal touch to the Collector Guide.

The next brilliant updates will be added in the second half of 2008.

Anyone wanting to help with information to enter, even the smallest piece of information, is more than welcome to email. All help is appreciated and recognized on the Collector Guide.

For an amazing wealth of extra information in print, for all the models in this database, meet Pat Hammond.

The best and fairest way to purchase or value these past models is through eBay. Try our brilliant Hornby eBay Search System, including pre-defined searches.

1975 Flying Scotsman

Tri-ang Wrenn releases from the 1969 to 1972 era have been included, they are the years with a (w).

(Below) One of the Hornby images from the brilliant 1980 catalogue. Catalogues are still made today and the excellent quality remains. Go buy this years now! Todays Hornby models are made in China. All the models in this database were made in the UK, apart from a few in Australia.

Hornby Railways is the beloved first train set of nearly all model railway fans in the UK and Australia.

Tri-ang Railways started production in 1955, they became Tri-ang Hornby in 1965 after a company takeover, which again changed to Hornby Railways in 1973 after even more boardroom moves... Finally the company settled on Hornby dropping the Railways in 1997.
1980 Hornby Railways Catalogue

Hornby Railways may not be the most detailed, or the rarest, or even run the smoothest... but there is magic in the way the whole Hornby World fits together.

From the dreamy catalogues of model train fantasy, to the terribly weak fishplates on old Hornby track... Hornby is fantastic fun!
